Getting out on the Columbia River above Rock Island Dam and below Rocky Reach Dam, right between Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, is very popular with local boaters. One of the best places to get your boat in the water on this stretch of the river is the Orondo Street Boat Launch.
The parking lot there has plenty of parking for passenger vehicles, as well as vehicles and boat trailers. In addition to the concrete boat launch and the dock, there is a small lagoon with room to tie up your boat while you wait to get out on the river or wait to get out of the water. Off the north end of parking lot is a large dock that is perfect for boats as well as kayakers coming up or down the river.
Across the driveway from the Orondo Street Boat Launch is the popular Pybus Public Market which is a great place to escape the sun or rain, get a bite to eat, or do some light shopping.
The Apple Capital Loop Trail conveniently runs right alongside the Orondo Street Boat Launch and it serves as a nice stop or resting point along the way.
